Description
KST-M - MINIATURE FOIL SCREENED SOLID CONDUCTOR TWIN CABLE
This new 2010 version of the Canford KST-M cable is designed to be suitable for both digital and analogue audio signals, the ‘universal’ solution for both installed and deployable applications. An impedance of 100 ohms has been proven to be suitable for AES/EBU digital audio signals as well as analogue microphone and line level signals.
This is a miniature solid-conductor twin screened cable, specifically for use with Krone 10 pair and similar IDC blocks. Cores and drain wire are all solid conductor, 0.5mm diameter, however this differs from KST cable in that, to keep the overall diameter to an absolute minimum, the drain wire does not have a conductive plastic jacket. The foil screen is bonded to the outer PVC jacket, as with KST and FST.
Although this cable is designed for IDC applications, there will be occasions where some soldered terminations are required. The wire insulation is polypropylene, which shrinks back minimally during soldering (considerably less than PVC or polyethylene).
