Description
CANFORD RS422 DATA PATCH PANEL Fully Screened
A cost-effective range of fully-screened RJ45 patch panels designed for broadcast and audio RS422 application. Front-panel connectors are arranged symmetrically about a centre divide, allowing source and destination channels to be grouped easily. Panels are finished in Dawn Grey (BS4800-10A03) to distinguish them from IT network panels.
Rear termination is via D-sub 9-pin sockets fitted with thread-lock posts to accept 4-40UNC thumb screws on the system cabling: See D-sub connectors. It is recommended that front-panel patching is completed with screened flexible RJ45 8-pin patchcords: See Canford RS422 data patchcords - fully screened.
The signal path within the panel is fully screened by tinned D-sub sockets, screened RJ45 sockets and individual channel metalised housings. D-sub pins 2 to 9 are connected to the front-panel RJ45 sockets, enabling D-sub pin 5 to carry Sony priority signal. D-sub pin 1 is connected to the connector chassis. In the unlikely event of connector damage, individual modules can be replaced easily by the user.
Manufactured from a rigid aluminium extrusion, panels are fitted with a cranked lacing-bar for each row of connectors giving easy access to the rear sockets. The connector pitch is the same for each style with connectors centralised either side of a centre divide. A designation-strip holder with snap-on cover is fitted above each connector row and permits paper strips to be inserted before or after installation; 7.5mm of printable height is available. Autocad templates for printing designation strips are available for download from the Tech Zone at www.canford.co.uk or by contacting Technical Support. Spare 432mm designation-strip paper (not suitable for printers) and covers are available, see 'Designation strips - snap on'.
Depth behind panel, including lacing-bar, 180mm
Recess rack-mounting brackets are available to recess panels within the rack and an optional tamper-proof cover-plate can be fitted and removed without disturbing the panel mountings: See Recess rack-mounting brackets and anti-tamper covers.
Application note
Where a cover-plate is required to protect patch cords, recess brackets with a depth of 100mm or greater are recommended.
