CANFORD ETHERCON TERMINATION PANELS
A range of data termination and patching panels supplied fully-populated with Neutrik latching metal-shell Ethercon connectors. The Ethercon was designed for data transfer interconnections where a more robust connector than the basic RJ45 is required and are especially suitable for location and outdoor applications, stage, studio and other commercial and industrial environments. Also suitable for RS422 applications. The Ethercon connector utilises the robust Neutrik latch rather than the delicate plastic latch on the RJ45 (which is disabled in the Ethercon application).
Two methods of terminatiing system wiring to the rear of the panel are offered. Individual Krone IDC blocks, for direct wire termination, are integrated on the rear of each connector and accept UTP or STP data cables. In the case of STP cable, screen continuity is provided by side screens within the RJ45 socket which extend to the rear and contact securely with and over the cable screen. A Krone inserter tool is required to terminate the cable. See Index: "Krone accessories".
Alternatively a version is offered with screened RJ45 sockets at the rear of each connector to accept premade cables terminated with RJ45 8-way plugs, See: "RJ45 Patchcords".
It is recommended that front-panel patching and connection to remote equipment is completed with a flexible, rugged CAT 5E cable; see CAT 5E-F for full cable specification; Neutrik NE8MC plugs with RJ45 8-pin inserts will also be required. Ethercon comply with IEC1801 Category 5, shielded or unshielded, and are suitable for use with 10 Base-T and 100 Base-TX systems.
Manufactured from a rigid aluminium extrusion, panels are fitted with a cranked lacing-bar for each row of connectors giving easy access to the rear of the connectors. The connector pitch is the same for each style, with connectors centralised on the panel. A designation-strip holder with snap-on cover is fitted above each connector row, permitting paper strips to be inserted before or after installation; 7.5mm of printable height is available. Autocad templates for printing designation strips are available for download from the Tech Zone at www.canford.co.uk or by contacting Technical Support.
Available finished in Dawn Grey (BS4800-10A03) or Black. Spare 432mm designation-strip paper (not suitable for printers) and covers are available, see 'Designation strips - snap on'. Custom D-Series connector-combinations can be assembled to special order and may include any other `D’ Series mounting connector. We will require a drawing or sketch to start assembly which will normally be completed within a few days. More urgent requirements can usually be met the same day on request.
Recess rack-mounting brackets are available to recess panels within the rack and an optional tamper-proof cover-plate can be fitted and removed without disturbing the panel mountings. See "Recess rack-mounting brackets and anti-tamper covers".
Application note:
Where a cover-plate is required to protect patch cords, recess brackets with a depth of 100mm or greater are recommended.
