Designed to distribute MADI 64-channel audio over long distances, these modules, part of the yellobrik range manufactured by Lynx Technik, extend MADI circuits over distances of up to 10km or 40km using duplex or simplex fibre-optic cables. The yellobrik range includes a two-fibre transceiver (10km), a bi-directional WDM transceiver (10km) enabling send and receive over a single singlemode fibre, and a CWDM transceiver enabling transmission over duplex SM fibres up to 40km with the option to multiplex over a single fibre. A multimode (MM) duplex fibre version of the transceiver is also available providing a transmission range of up to 550m. Modules may be used alone, or mounted in an optional rack-mounting frame with dual (redundant) power supply option.

OBD 1210 MADI coax - fibre bi-directional transceivers
The OBD 1210 modules are supplied in pairs complete with fibre SFPs fitted, one Type A and one Type B, which work together. They are linked together by a single fibre, using WDM multiplexing (see below), to provide a bi-directional (send and receive) transmission system for 64 channels of audio in MADI format.

Technical note: WDM
WDM is wavelength-division multiplexing. This technology multiplexes a number of optical carrier signals onto a single fibre by using different wavelengths of light. This can be used to increase the capacity of the fibre or to enable bi-directional communication over a single fibre.
