CLOUD MULTI CHANNEL POWER AMPLIFIERS
The multiple channels of each of these well-built workhorses provide a convenient means of supplying different areas or systems with dedicated programme. Four, six and eight channel models offer from 50W to 120W per channel. Remote control and 100V/70V line accessories are offered.
Perhaps used in conjunction with the mixing and zoning devices from the same manufacturer, the facilities and accessories help integrate the designs into entertainment, conference and industrial environments, whilst other applications may well occur, such as tri-amplification or bi-amplification of stereo speakers, or effects, cue or monitor feeds. CX-A6
The front panel is sparse, with only a grille for air intake to the two-speed fan, a power switch and three LEDS for each channel to show output present, level peak warning and when the protection relay has disconnected the load. Protection systems include VI limiting, DC offset and thermal fault disconnection. An addition there is a delay of five seconds after power-on before the speakers are connected.
On the rear, the input connections are high impedance, balanced, at line level, via XLR style connectors, and have associated level controls. The adjacent switches alter the signal routing: CX-A6 configurations include six separate channels, three stereo pairs fed from one input, and six channels fed from one mono source. Any two channels may be operated in bridged mono by external wiring. VCA modules are available which will provide remote control of level using accessory control plates or other systems such as fire alarm relays, to give up to 90dB attenuation. See optional accessories below. Outputs are presented on six pairs of binding posts suitable for cable up to 2.5 mm sq. The power connection is an IEC inlet.

VCA-2 modules offer remote control of level either individually, using one RL-1 remote control plate per channel, or as stereo pairs, each pair using a single RL-1. The CX-A6 can take up to three VCA-2 modules. The RL-1 fits standard UK BS4662, 25mm deep, single-gang back boxes.
CX-A450
A lower powered, four-channel version, the CX-A450 has similar input and output ports and facilities to the CX-A6. All signal inputs use three-pin ‘mini Phoenix’ two-part terminal connectors. Outputs use the larger Phoenix variants. The cooling fan is varispeed. A version with integrated mono mixer and zoner is also available. See Index: ‘Zoner Amplifiers’. CX-A850
The CX-A850 is an eight-channel version of the CX-A450. It has the same features, performance and dimensions, other than the extra inputs, and the resulting lack of space for fitting an internal 100V/70V line module.
