SONY LAVALIER MICROPHONES
The Sony ECM series of lavalier (tie-clip) microphones are well established as some of the most popular lavalier types in use. Canford normally holds all the popular microphones and their wide range of accessories as stock items. Brochures with technical data are available on request.
ECM44
Budget omnidirectional lavalier, suitable for broadcast, video, and a variety of sound reinforcement applications, including lectures, worship, presentations and demonstrations. Diameter is 6.6mm diameter, length 14.5mm, capsule weight 2.0g. Frequency response 40-15000Hz. Supplied with single and dual horizontal clip, vertical clip, case and foam windshield giving excellent wind-noise reduction. Three versions are available:
ECM44B: Black finish and supplied connected to a pre-amplifier housed in a separate barrel, with balanced XLR output. Powered by internal battery (type AA, approximate battery life 5,000 hours). No phantom power option.
ECM44BC: Terminated in Hirose 4-pin connector for use with Sony radio-microphones or DC-78 power supply.
ECM44BMP: Terminated in Sony 3.5mm locking jack for use with Sony radio-microphones.
ECM77
Ultra-miniature, 5.6mm diameter, 12.5mm length, weight 1.5g. Extended frequency response (40-20000Hz) is enabled by new developments in mechanical and electronic construction. Intended for TV and stage applications, where the highest quality inconspicuous microphone is required. Even when hidden inside costumes, the carefully-tailored frequency response ensures detailed voice pick-up. Omnidirectional polar pattern. Supplied with single and dual horizontal clip, vertical clip, case and foam windshield giving excellent wind-noise reduction. Four versions are available:

ECM88
An omnidirectional, miniature, full frequency-response (20-20000Hz) lavalier microphone with a special design which really does almost eliminate handling and popping noise. The sealed dual diaphragm also reduces susceptibility to sweat, make-up and rain. The small size (3.5mm diameter, 16.8mm length) and genuinely omni-directional response make this microphone suitable for broadcast, theatre and high-quality presentations. Impedance 100 ohms, dynamic range >99dB, S/N (A wtd) >68dB. Four versions are available:
ECM88B: Black finish and is terminated with Hirose 4-pin connector for use with Sony radio-microphones or DC-78 power supply. Supplied boxed with DC-78, SAD-V88B and SAD-W88BL clip microphone holders and foam windshield. Powered by internal battery (type AA, approximate battery life 6,000 hours) or 12-48V phantom power.
ECM88BC: Black finish and is terminated with Hirose 4-pin connector for use with Sony radio-microphones or DC-78 power supply (not included). Supplied with SAD-H88B and SAD-V88B clip microphone holders and foam windshield.
ECM88-BPT: Supplied without connector, with SAD-H88B and SAD-V88B clip microphone holders and foam windshield. Colour black.
ECM88-FPT: Supplied without connector, without clip microphone holders and without foam windshield. Colour beige.
Canford can supply ECM88-PT terminated for a variety of radio transmitters to special order. Please ask Technical Support for information.
DC-78
A power-supply barrel for ECM88, ECM77BC, ECM44BC and similar microphones, with Hirose 4-pin input connector and balanced XLR output. Internal AA battery or external 12-48V phantom supply. Length 144mm.
ECM55 and ECM66
These models have been discontinued, but spares and accessories remain available whilst stocks last.
Accessories
A full range of accessories are available, all sold singly (except coloured windshields, sold in sets only). The microphone number and colour are added as a suffix to the accessory type to produce the full stock code - eg. SAD-H55B is a single horizontal holder clip for a black ECM55. Note that ‘horizontal holder’ means that the croc-clip lies horizontal with the mic vertical.
