TASCAM USB AUDIO INTERFACES - Analogue, S/PDIF audio - Desktop

Suited best for desktop audio production, these audio interfaces provide the A/D conversion and transmission of analogue audio sources to a computer over a high-speed USB 2.0 interface. The US-200 provides two audio inputs and four audio outputs, suiting musicians and other producers who need simple recording functionality, but also users such as DJs with more demanding monitoring needs. The US-125M acts as a mixer, allowing three audio inputs to be mixed with computer audio into a single stereo mix, suiting the production of live audio streaming or musical training.

US-200

Inputs consist of two 'combo' sockets, compatible with balanced XLR and 6.35mm jack plugs, with switchable phantom power. The levels of the audio inputs may be adjusted using independent rotary controls and are displayed by LED indicators, while one of the inputs may be switched to have high impedance, for the direct input of musical instruments. Output is to two rear-mounted pairs of RCA (phono) sockets and to a front-mounted 6.35mm stereo headphone output. When the US-200 is connected to a computer, the user may choose to use just one stereo pair of software audio channels, feeding them to both pairs of physical output sockets, or choose to use two pairs of software audio channels, feeding each pair of software audio channels to its own pair of physical output sockets. Whichever audio is fed to the first pair of physical output sockets is also fed to the headphone output socket. Direct connection within the unit of the input signals to the outputs allows zero-latency monitoring, with the mix between the audio inputs and the computer outputs set with a front-mounted rotary control. As well as audio, this USB-powered interface carries MIDI data to and from the standard 5-pin MIDI output and input.

Microphone inputs: XLR, -57/-14/+2dBu minimum/nominal/maximum, 2.2k ohms, balanced. Jack inputs: -39/+4/+20dBu minimum/nominal/maximum, 15k ohms, balanced, line level; -56/-13/+3dBV minimum/nominal/maximum, 1M ohms, unbalanced, instrument level. Sampling: 44.1/48/88.2/96kHz. Quantization rate: 24-bit. Outputs: -10/+6dBV nominal/maximum, 200 ohms, unbalanced; 18mW maximum, 32 ohm load, headphones. USB interface: B type, 4-pin, USB 2.0. Response: 20Hz-40kHz, +0.5/-1.5db, 96kHz. Noise, Distortion: -98dB, 0.0045% THD, line in to line out. Power source: USB bus power. Dimensions: 172 × 44 × 164.3mm (w × h × d). Weight: 0.48kg.

Included accessories: USB cable, CD-ROM containing drivers, DVD-ROM containing Cubase LE 5 software.

US-125M

The unit is housed in an aluminium casing, and mixes together three analogue audio channels (named microphone, instrument and line) with digital audio from a computer, if attached via USB. Each of the four channels has its own rotary control on the front of the unit, setting its volume within the mix. Audio may be attached to the microphone channel via either a balanced XLR socket, a 6.35mm balanced jack socket, or an unbalanced 3.5mm jack socket which has 'plug-in' powering. The microphone input has LEDs indicating the presence of a signal or overload, as well as a switchable limiter. The instrument input is a 6.35mm unbalanced, high-impedance jack socket, and so is suitable for instruments such as electric guitars and bass guitars. The line level inputs are a stereo pair of RCA (phono) sockets. The inputs are mixed to two channels in stereo; they are output to a stereo pair of RCA (phono) sockets on the rear of the unit and to a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack on the front. The output can be transmitted to a computer via USB, but the US-125M can also be used as a standalone mixer.

Microphone inputs: -64 to -44 / -28dBu, nominal/maximum, 2.2k ohms. Instrument input: +6dBV maximum, 1M ohms, unbalanced. Line inputs: -15/+21dBV nominal/maximum, 200 ohms, unbalanced, RCA (phono) sockets. Sampling: 32/44.1/48kHz. Quantization rate: 24-bit. Outputs: +3dBV maximum, 200 ohms, unbalanced, RCA (phono) sockets; 15mW maximum, 32 ohm load, headphones. USB interface: B type, 4-pin, USB 1.1/2.0. Response: 20Hz-20kHz, +/-2db, 48kHz. Noise: -75dBV. Distortion: less than 0.1% THD, mic in to line out. Power source: USB bus power. Dimensions: 150 × 42 × 122mm (w × h × d). Weight: 0.5kg.

Included accessories: USB cable, 1.5m. User guide.
Optional accessories: PS-P515U power supply, for use as a stand-alone analogue mixer.
