RDL FLAT-PAK AUDIO CIRCUIT MODULES
A range of enclosed circuit modules offering a flexible solution to temporary and permanent interfacing, communication and distribution problems. The Flat-Pak range all have the same width with a mounting flanges that offer a variety of fixing options.
FP-DFC2 SPDIF to AES/EBU Converter
A transformer-isolated format converter with TOSlink optical, RCA (phono) and BNC coaxial inputs. Only one input should be used and the output appears on an XLR connector. An LED indicates valid (locked) signal 16 to 24-bit, 32 kHz to 192kHz. Auto-recovery circuitry reduces signal latch-up and improves stability.

FP-SPR1 SPDIF Repeater/Amplifier
This module can be used to convert between optical and coaxial formats and to recover low-level signals. BNC and RCA (phono) coaxial inputs are provided and these have priority over the optical input. Either BNC or RCA (phono) coaxial output can be used with the optical output. An LED indicates when a valid signal is present. Input level 100mV to 2.5V p-p (coaxial); output level: 500mV p-p. Sample-rate: 28-48 kHz; Jitter: <200pS (input signal>200mV p-p), <1nS (input signal 100-200mV p-p).

FP-BUC2 Balanced to Unbalanced Converter
A stereo balanced to unbalanced converter with gold-plated XLR balanced inputs and gold-plated RCA(phono) outputs. Separate level trim controls are provided. Input level -2 to +10dBu for nominal output -10dBV; output impedance: 75 ohm; frequency response: 10-40,000 Hz (+ or - 0.1dB); THD: 0.005%; Noise: <-90dB (below -10dBV).

FP-UBC2 and FP-UBC6 Unbalanced to Balanced Converters
Two and six channel unbalanced to balanced converter/ pro interface for replay only machines such as CD players. Input connectors are gold plated RCA (phono) and output connectors are gold-plated XLR connectors. A gain adjustment (-5dB to +10dB) control is provided for each channel. Input: 10k ohms unbalanced -20dBV to -5dBV; output: 150 ohms balanced or unbalanced (drives 600 or 10k ohms loads); frequency response: 20-40,000 Hz (+ or - 0.25 dB); headroom:>18dB at +4dBu output; THD: <0.05%; noise: <-85dB ref. +4dB; crosstalk:>70dB.

FP-MP1 Microphone Preamplifier
A single-channel high quality microphone pre-amplifier with XLR and detachable terminal-block input and output connectors. A three-position switch selects phantom power 24V, 12V or OFF, another switch selects normal (45-55dB) or high (55-65dB) gain with a 10dB gain trim. A switchable low-cut filter (80Hz 6dB/octave) is also provided. Two LED indicators indicate signal level. Input impedance: 2 kohms; input clipping level: -21dBu; frequency response: 20-30,000 Hz (+ or - 0.25 Hz) THD<0.1%; Equivalent input noise: <-130dB.

FP-MPA2 Dual Phantom Adaptor
Two independent channels of phantom power supply, with XLR input and output connectors. Each channel has 12/24/48V voltage selection with two power output options for the 24v supply (1.2 or 2.4 kohm load). Complies with IEC1938:1996-12.

FP-MX4 Mic/Line Mixer
Four-channel mono mixer with mic and line level inputs and output. Connections are on separate removable terminal blocks, and each input has mic/line/phantom (24V) switching, as well as three levels of mic gain (40/50/60dB). There are four mixing potentiometers (intended as preset adjusters rather than for continuous use). A two-LED level indicator is provided. Mic input level: -30 to -40/-40 to -50/<-50 dB; line input level: +4dBu. Output level: mic -45dBu, line +4dBu, 150 ohm balanced; frequency response: 10-30,000Hz (mic) 10-45,000Hz (line) + or - 0.25dB; THD: <0.012% (mic), <0.004% (line).

FP-PEQ3 3 band Parametric Equaliser
A single-channel 3-band parametric equaliser with balanced input and output on removable terminal block and unbalanced input and output on RCA (phono) connectors. Each band has controls for frequency in three overlapping ranges (15-200Hz, 150-2,000Hz, 1,500-20,000Hz), bandwidth (0.04 to 1.5 octave) and boost/cut (+ or - 15 dB), and an overall gain control. Input and output: +4dBu balanced, -10dBV unbalanced, 10k ohms bridging; frequency response (filters flat): 10-20,000Hz + or - 0.25dB; THD: <0.005%, noise: <-90dB below +4dBu.

FP-ALC1 Automatic Level Controller
A single-channel level controller for balanced or unbalanced line-level signals, with detachable terminal block connectors. Output level is nominal 4dBu with>18dB headroom and input levels can range from -16 to +14 dBu, with a single gain control and overload LED for adjustment. Control circuitry has self-adjusting attack and release times and split-band AGC circuitry. Input impedance: 10k ohms; output impedance: 150 ohms; frequency response: 20-20,000 Hz (+ or - 0.75dB); THD: <0.15%; noise: <-90dB (below +4dBu).

FP-ALC2 Stereo Automatic Level Controller
A stereo level controller for unbalanced line-level signals, with RCA (phono) connectors. Output level is nominal -10dBV with>18dB headroom and input levels can range from -30 to 0 dBV, with a single gain control and overload LED for adjustment. Control circuitry has self-adjusting attack and release times and split-band AGC circuitry. Input impedance: 10k ohms; output impedance: 200 ohms; frequency response: 20-20,000 Hz (+ or - 0.5dB); THD: <0.15%; noise: <-90dB (below -10dBV).

FP-VDA4 Video Distribution Amplifier
A 1:4 distribution amplifier for NTSC or PAL video signals. Input and output connectors are BNC and an additional loop output is provided. Adjustable gain (0 to +6dB). Outputs are source terminated, but unused outputs do not require termination.

FP-AVDA4 A/V Distribution Amplifier
A distribution amplifier that provides four outputs for consumer video and stereo audio. Inputs and outputs on RCA (phono) connectors. Video: 1V p-p unity gain 75 ohms, 10 Hz- 10MHz (+ or - 0.2dB). Audio: -10dBV unbalanced unity gain, 10 k ohms input impedance, 150 ohms output impedance; headroom>18dB, frequency response 20-40,000 Hz (+ or - 0.25dB).

FP-SVDA4 S-Video Distribution Amplifier
A 1:4 distribution amplifier for S-video component signals (found on consumer camcorders and video recorders). Input and output connectors are 4-pin mini-DIN with adjustable gain (0 to +6dB) for chrominance and luminance. Outputs are source terminated, but unused outputs do not require termination.

FP-DCC1 DC/DC Converter
A handy module to provide 24V DC output from a 12V source. Two outputs are provided, one providing 400mA, for general use, and a second low-noise output provides 50mA for microphone and high gain amplifier modules. Inputs and outputs are protected against excessive currents and reverse voltages. Not suitable for supply floating input modules.

Mounting Accessories
The Flat-Pak range all have the same width, with mounting flanges that offer a variety of fixing options. The flanges have notches for simple fixing to a surface using screws and, using special mounting brackets, can be slotted onto RDL 2U rack-mounting panels. Powering
Powering: All units require a 24V DC power supply; each has both screw terminals and coaxial socket for power input and an additional coaxial socket to feed supply to other modules. Plug-top power supplies are available, providing 24V at 130mA and 330mA, see 'Friwo Plug-Top Power Supplies' for more details. A 'universal' supply is available, 57-401, with 24V 2A output, which requires an IEC cordset. See 'RDL Power Supplies' for further information and a variety of mounting options. Note that all RDL modules with co-axial power input/output sockets use connectors with 2.5mm pins.
Included accessories: All modules are supplied with a datasheet and a power interconnection cable, to cascade power to another module.
