A two-channel design for professional applications, this updated model offers more power along with balanced and filtered inputs, professional connectors, minimal rack mounting format and silent, passive cooling.
Although originally intended for use in radio studios, the amplifier will be useful in many other applications where small size without fan-cooling is important; the power output of 40 watts per channel is quite sufficient for many monitoring applications.
The front panel is dominated by a black heat-sink. To the left are two controls for level which may be removed to prevent ‘adjustment’ by users (see application note below). On the right is the power switch with integrated indicator.
The AC power connection is an IEC inlet on the rear, with associated fuse. Locking Neutrik connectors are provided for the speakers. An NL4 version is wired for both channels, an NL2 connector is wired for channel two only. As a result, speaker connections can be made by either two separate NL2 connectors or a single NC4. Input connections are electronically balanced using two 3-pin XLR connectors.
Speakers are protected against damaging transients by the amplifier muting the output when the power is turned on and off. The amplifier output is fully protected against overload, short circuit and thermal damage.

Application note:
The amplifier may be converted by a competent technician to have recessed pre-set level controls. The knobs are removed, the potentiometer is de-soldered, moved back on the circuit board then re-soldered. The slotted spindles may then be accessed through the front panel; two caps are included to fill the access holes. Alternatively, amplifiers may be ordered with this modification factory fitted, stock code 20-303.
An internal link may be removed, if required, to filter the low-frequency response. This reduces output below 75Hz to avoid driving bass-reflex speakers below their cut-off point, where no usable output is produced, in order to protect the speaker and reduce inter-modulation distortion.
Included accessories: Data sheet, two NL2 connectors. Order AC power cordset separately.
Optional accessories: IEC power cable, 42-3184 and 42-171 have UK and Schuko connectors respectively. For alternative cables see Mains cordsets.
