Xirium X is a digital wireless system designed to replace analogue audio cables in situations where it may be difficult, inappropriate or impossible to run a cable, but where a stable connection and high quality audio must be maintained. The system is suitable for outside broadcasts, conferences, live events and music performances and offers a solution at venues where cables are difficult to hide and trip hazards must be avoided including: churches, historic buildings, museums, hotels and colleges.
Operating in the licence-exempt 5GHz frequency band, the system components can be configured to send or receive up to four channels of uncompressed, studio-quality, 24bit, 48kHz audio with only 3.4 milliseconds latency per circuit, using time-division multiplex on only one radio frequency channel.
Deploying only a transmitter and a receiver, a simple wireless audio transmission system can easily be set up that fully replaces cable and because a Xirium base station is not required, Xirium X is a more cost effective solution. The products are designed as 'touring' units and are constructed in rugged metal cases.
Note: Xirium X is not compatible with Xirium. However, system accessories such as power supplies, antennas, antenna cables and clamps can be used with either system.
Neutrik's DiWA (Digital Wireless Audio) transmit and receive protocol, together with patented 'FEC' forward error correction, results in robust, noise-free operation, even in the presence of heavy local RF traffic. To maximise RF coverage the supplied half-wave omni-directional antennas can be augmented with optional directional antennas. The system is designed for line of sight operation, but in repeater mode with an additional mid-point receiver, obstacles can be overcome.

The transmitter accepts microphone, instrument and line-level analogue audio sources via a combination female 3-pin XLR and 3-pole, 6.35mm jack connector. Switched 48V phantom power is also provided. Gain settings are controlled in 8dB steps, or 1dB steps if a laptop is connected running XIRIUM X Companion software. Audio level monitoring is provided by the three-colour LED next to the 'Gain Up/Down' buttons. The 'Mute/link' button is a multi-function control that is used to configure the unit into various modes including: audio mute, start linking process, display audio level and RF channel link status. There is an audio channel-select control, repeater-mode switch, Tiny XLR DC power connector and an SMA connector for the antenna.
Discontinued
The receiver has a single male 3-pin XLR analogue audio output, audio channel-select control with status LED and repeater mode switch. There is also a Tiny XLR DC power connector and an SMA connector for the antenna.
CAS-NXX-BASIC - Set
Discontinued
This is a kit, consisting of 1x transmitter, 2x receivers, 3x battery packs, 3x clamps, 1x NXA-14-40-35 antenna and 1x SMA male to male adapter, contained in a fitted flight-case.
Configuration Examples:
Broadcast mode is the most basic arrangement, where a transmitter and a receiver link directly with each other. Additional receivers can be added if required and all will receive the same mono audio channel.
In repeater mode the system can be extended to overcome obstacles. An additional mid-point receiver, set up in repeater mode, can receive the audio signal from the transmitter and forward it to the other receivers. A repeater can forward up to two audio signals and only one repeater can be used per RF channel.
In the multiple-mono or stereo mode, multiple mono channels up to a maximum of four can be transmitted within one RF channel. All audio signals are transmitted synchronously, so stereo signals can also be accommodated. An additional mid-point receiver can also be added and setup in repeater mode to receive the audio signals from the transmitters and forward it to the other receivers. Note that a repeater can forward up to two audio signals and only one repeater can be used per RF channel.
