AMPETRONIC INDUCTION LOOP AMPLIFIERS - Conference rooms and venues

Suitable for applications requiring a larger coverage area including conference facilities, theatres, sports halls, educational environments, larger meeting rooms, cinemas, courts and lecture halls, these loop drivers will cover up to 1300 square metres. They are AC powered and may be wall or rack-mounted.

Ampetronic systems are designed for ‘fit-and-forget’ reliability. Their frequency response ensures intelligibility for the hearing aid user, essential for extended periods of listening, or where there is any musical output in the signal. A compressor and automatic gain-control system, combined with wide-band audio circuitry, produces ‘excellen’t reproduction of music and speech. Normal speech dynamics are retained to maximise expression, while the total dynamic range is automatically adjusted to a level suitable for hearing-aid users. The systems can also be used by people with no hearing aid, by using separate loop receivers, such as the Ampetronic ILR3, for those with partial hearing impairment, or in visitor guidance applications and teaching in noisy environments.

The loop drivers are designed to be used with simple, single-turn loop installations. With appropriate loop array designs, the loop drivers can also be used in areas of high metal losses, and for adjacent rooms or confidential environments where interference or spill-over must be avoided.

ILD300 Loop Driver

Discontinued

This model is designed to cover loop areas up to square areas of 250 square metres, or rectangular areas of over 400 square metres, depending on loop-aspect ratio.

The ILD300 is built in a half rack-width case. On the rear it has a single balanced microphone input using an XLR connector, with +15V phantom power available. A balanced line input is provided using a 6.35mm 3-pole jack socket, and an input / output using a 6.35mm three-pole jack for recording, slave and insert purposes. A mini-DIN connector provides an ancillary DC outlet, +/- 15V DC, for powering accessories such as Ampetronic’s pre-amplifiers, See Ampetronic Adapters and Pre-amplifiers. A preset control sets metal-loss correction. The IEC power inlet has an associated fuse, the loop output uses a detachable connector.

The front has recessed preset controls for sensitivity of the microphone and line inputs, drive current. Two four-LED displays indicate compression and loop current. LEDs indicate overload, over heat and loop error conditions. A 3.5mm stereo jack socket provides access to the actual audio signal in the loop for use with headphones. The power switch has an associated LED. It may be used free-standing or mounted in a rack or on a wall using accessory brackets.

Frequency response: 80-6500Hz. AGC: Optimised for speech, dynamic range greater than 36dB. Output current: 7A sine wave, 1kHz; more than 10A peak. Power source: 230V AC nominal, 45-65Hz, 35W. Dimensions: 215 x 210 x 44 mm. Weight: 2.25kg.

Included accessories: Handbook and installation instructions. Power cable. ‘Loop system present’ sign, 197mm x 252mm. Mating connector for loop output.
Optional accessories: Wall mount brackets WML-1U, rack mount brackets RM-1U, see below. Note that the ILD 300 is one half-rack width so will need a BPL-1U blanking plate if only one ILD 300 is mounted in the RM-1U. Also see Ampetronic Adapters and Pre-amplifiers.

ILD500 Loop Driver

Discontinued

The ILD500 is a more powerful version of the ILD300. Square loop areas of up to 420 square metres can be covered, or more than 700 square metres in rectangular configurations, depending on aspect ratio.

The case is a full rack-width type. Controls and indication on the front panel are the same as the ILD300, with the exception that the compression and loop current displays use six, rather than four, LEDs. Connections and facilities on the rear are the same. The ILD500 is fan-cooled. The loop output uses a Speakon NL4 connector.

Output current: 9A sine wave, 1kHz; more than 13A peak. Power source: 230V AC nominal, 45-65Hz, 85W. Dimensions: 430 x 220 x 44 mm. Weight: 3.75kg.

Included accessories: Handbook and installation instructions. Power cable. ‘Loop system present’ sign, 197mm x 252mm. Mating connector for loop output. Rack-mounting brackets.
Optional accessories: Wall mount brackets WMF1-U. See Ampetronic Adapters and Pre-amplifiers.

ILD 1000G

Discontinued

The most powerful of the Ampetronic range, this is suitable for applications including conference facilities, theatres, sports halls, educational environments, larger meeting rooms, courts and lecture halls. The ILD 1000G is designed to cover loop areas of greater than 1000 square metres if square, or rectangular areas of over 1300 square metres, depending on loop aspect ratio. It uses high-efficiency class-G amplification to reduce heat dissipation.

The ILD1000G is rack-mounting as standard, wall-mounting with optional accessory brackets or may be used free standing. It has one XLR microphone input, one XLR input switchable to either microphone or line, -50dBu, with +15dB gain boost available, and one 6.35mm jack balanced line input, -30dBu, overload protected, for use in conjunction with other sound systems, or multiple sources if using Ampetronic input adaptors and pre-amplifiers.

The front panel has three recessed gain controls, recessed controls to set metal loss correction and loop current and a power switch. Two LED bar-graphs show compression and loop current. LEDs indicate overload, over-heat, loop-error, power. A 3.5mm stereo jack socket provides access to the actual audio signal in the loop for use with headphones.

The microphone inputs suit low impedance microphones, -70dBu sensitivity, have a +15dB gain boost switch and 15 volt phantom powering available, switched on the rear panel. Two 6.35 mm jack sockets on the rear provide a slave output, 0dBu, unbalanced, which may be used for recording, and an insert point for use with outboard processing such as phase shifters.

The loop output is an NL4 connector, a status connector provides isolated relay contacts to indicate a fault condition, a mini-DIN connector provides an ancillary DC outlet, +/- 15V DC, for powering accessories such as Ampetronic’s pre-amplifiers. Power is connected using an IEC inlet. Cooling is forced, with an air intake on the left panel and ejection at the rear.

Frequency response: 80-6500Hz. AGC: Optimised for speech, dynamic range greater than 36dB. Output current: More than 3A sine wave, 1kHz; more than 19A peak. Power source: 230V AC nominal, 45-60Hz, 120W. Dimensions: 1U rack mounting, 220mm deep, 430 x 220 x 44 (w x d x h)mm without brackets. Weight: 3.75kg.

Included accessories: Handbook and installation instructions. Power lead. ‘Loop system present’ sign. Connector for loop output and status. Rack mounting brackets.
Optional accessories: WMF1-U wall-mount brackets. See Ampetronic Adapters and Pre-amplifiers for mixers and pre-amps to expand the input facilities and adapters to facilitate input connection from speaker lines and unbalanced microphones.

Mounting Accessories

RM-1U Rack Mounting Tray

The RM-1U is a single-unit rack-mounting tray which will take up to four Ampetronic devices, depending on width, or blanking plates. The BPS-1U Short blanking plate takes up one quarter of the width. The BPL-1U Long blanking plate takes up half of the width. Loop drivers and other accessories can be fitted up to the total width. Blanking plates should be ordered to fill gaps.

Wall Mounting Brackets

The brackets attach to the base of the units, and have key-hole slots to mount the equipment parallel to a vertical service.
