The Orbitor is a shoulder-mounted camera support system that provides a balanced and stable platform when shooting with a camcorder or DLSR, reducing fatigue on long shoots. Accessories such as remote controls and LCD monitors can be clamped to the structure. Battery plates can be fitted to power the camera and 12V camera lights simultaneously from 12-14.8 volt V-mount or PAGlok batteries using DC adapters, or a 6 volt C6 power pack can be used to power both the camera and 6V camera lights, again via a DC adapter.
The system can be configured to provide a two-handed system with three-axis camera control, for a range of shooting techniques, or a single-handed system, with a pan and tilt facility, for smaller cameras. The Orbitor distributes the weight of the camcorder comfortably across the body, and provides 'a stable shooting platform that enables hours of use without fatigue'. Freedom of movement is achieved by a mechanism controlled by variable tension clutches, that enables the user to pan, tilt and roll smoothly. The camera 'feels weightless and control of its movement is effortless, requiring the lightest touch'. Shooting can take place with the camera at right-angles to the body, for shooting in a car, or for tracking shots on a staircase.
The position of the shoulder pad assembly can be adjusted to fit the operator, and has a cushioned shoulder pad, to provide comfort during use. Adjustable straps secure the shoulder pad assembly to the waist belt, and maintain the ideal position during use. A sprung, telescopic, suspension rod provides support and fluid-control of the camera. It slots into a belt-mounted support pad. This assists with extreme tilting shots, absorbs potential camera shake on tracking shots, and provides 'hands-free' resting between shots.
The camera is mounted to a quick-release sliding camera plate, which allows fine adjustment of its position to achieve the correct point of balance on the assembly. The camera is counterbalanced by a weight mounted to the back-plate of the system’s shoulder pad assembly. In place of the weight, a battery pack can be used, which will also power a camera light. The back-plate can be fitted with a PAGlok or V mount connector battery plate, see below, to power the camcorder and a 12V Paglight M, via a DC Adaptor, using PAG 12V to 14.8V batteries. Alternatively, the 6V battery, supplied as part of the Paglight C6 Kit, can be used to power both the camcorder and the Paglight C6, via a 6V to 7.2V DC Adaptor. Total weight: 3.9kg, including counterbalance. Maximum weight supported by system: 4.5kg. Belt fits waists up to 46 inches.
Connector Battery Plates - V Mount and PAGlok
The connector plates provide a secure mechanical connection between the battery and the Orbitor back-plate. Two PP90 socket outlets are provided to power camera light and camera. Extender Arms and Camera Clamp
The 1020 short extender arm can be used to mount two accessories to a DSLR camera's accessory shoe, such as a camera light and a microphone.
The 9990 long extender arm mounts to the camera's accessory shoe, allowing a camera light to be positioned away from other accessories. It has a 1/4 inch Whitworth stud for mounting the Paglight and a shoe plate for connection to the camera shoe.
The 9807 Camera Clamp is for clamping accessories to the bars of the Orbitor. It has a 1/4 inch Whitworth thread bush, to take a suitably threaded accessory, or the 9971 stud adapter (as supplied with Paglights), which has the same thread at each end, so normal photo fittings can be attached.
