TASCAM DVD AND CD RECORDERS

The DV-RA1000 series allows high-resolution audio, up to 24-bit at 192kHz, or in Sony DSD format, to be recorded to CD and DVD media, supporting several analogue and digital input and output audio formats and providing several playback modes, 3-band EQ and a dynamics processor.

DVRA-1000HD Stereo Audio Recorder

The DV-RA1000HD records standard CD-DA, WAVE and DSDIFF files to CD-R, CD-RW and DVD+RW discs (and also DVD+R when the recorder is used in conjunction with a computer) and can be used in a variety of installations and applications ranging from studio mix-down to live audio recording in conference and interview rooms. There is a a 60GB hard drive housed within the unit; this offers, in addition to the predictable ability to record audio to the hard drive (thus bringing the benefits of extra capacity), the ability to copy audio: between DVD and CD discs and between discs and the hard drive itself - in both directions. The unit is operated by the use of large buttons on the front panel and information is displayed by a back-lit LCD screen. Various playback and record modes are available such as automatic track increment, based on digital PQ signals where applicable, else a definable amplitude threshold level; auto cue; auto ready; power-on-play; repeat and program track playback. Effects available both in playback and in recording are a 3-band EQ (with parametric mid-range), a multi-band dynamics processor and linear fading in or out. In playback a pitch-shifting function can be used to a maximum effect of +/-6%. Furthermore, track titles can be defined and edited by connecting a PS/2 keyboard to the unit.

An almost bewildering array of audio inputs and outputs is available on the rear panel of the unit, both analogue and digital. Analogue inputs and outputs are available both as balanced XLR sockets and as unbalanced RCA (phono) sockets. Digital inputs and outputs are provided both as coaxial (S/PDIF) sockets, allowing transmission of sample rates up to 96kHz, and as XLR (AES/EBU) sockets, in such a way as to allow sample rates up to 192kHz by use of 'double-speed' and 'double-wire' configurations. In addition, there is a set of BNC connections accepting and offering digital audio data in SDIF-3 (DSD-Raw) format. A 6.35mm jack socket with adjustable level is given on the front of the DV-RA1000HD for headphone use. The unit supports (and with the utilisation of the SDIF-3 connections requires) word clock synchronisation. Three BNC type connectors (IN, OUT and THRU) are given for this purpose, with auto-termination. Control of the unit is extended from the front-panel controls by the included wired remote control and the RS-232 serial control interface accessed by the 9-pin D-sub connector on the rear of the unit. When a computer is connected to the recorder via the USB 2.0 interface on the rear, the unit acts as a standard USB Mass Storage Device allowing access to the loaded disc. Signal to noise ratio: 103dB in DVD+RW recording; 94db in CD-R/RW recording. Power source: 230V AC, 33W. Dimensions: 483mm x 95 x 357 (w x h x d) with feet. Weight: 6.8kg.
