Discover Auri™: The Future of Assistive Listening

Auri is the first complete installed assistive listening system featuring Auracast - Bluetooth’s new broadcast audio platform.

Ampetronic and Listen Technologies have collaborated to create the new Auri™ Assistive Listening System which is leading the evolution of assistive listening. This solution is designed to improve accessibility and inclusivity for people with hearing impairments.

Auri uses Auracast, a new feature included in the latest Bluetooth LE Audio Standard, to deliver high-quality audio with low latency, in a one-to-many format, to listeners in venues such as theatres, lecture halls, places of worship, stadia, gyms and bars. In fact, anywhere where a person or group of people require a form of hearing assistance or guidance.

Auri™ TX2N Transmitter

  • A sleek, low-profile device that looks like a Wi-Fi access point.
  • Ensures high-fidelity sound with ultra-low latency.
  • Has a range of 3,000 feet and can be linked together to achieve an even greater range.
  • Supports both open and encrypted channels providing flexibility for venues that may need secure transmissions.

Auri™ RX1 Receiver

  • Provides guests and visitors without an Auracast compatible device a way to connect to the Auracast broadcast channels.
  • Is easy to use – simply select your desired channel to listen to that broadcast.
  • Has an OLED display showing channel name, battery level, and charging indicators.
  • Supports integrated neck loop lanyards for people with T-coil-equipped hearing aids.

It will take many years for all end-users to have their own Auracast enabled devices, but Auri allows venues to adopt Auracast broadcast audio now. By having Auri installed in your venue, your guests and visitors can benefit from this technology today.

How it works:

  1. Audio Source Input
    • The TX2N or TX2N-D transmitter with Dante support simply connects to the venue's audio source, such as microphones, mixers, or audio feeds; and is powered via USB-C or PoE.
    •
  2. Signal Transmission
    • A single transmitter broadcasts secure or encrypted audio to multiple compatible wireless devices simultaneously using Auracast.
    • If the venue has multiple rooms, additional transmitters set to repeater mode can be employed.
    •
  3. Signal Reception (using RX1 receiver)
    • Users select their desired channel via the RX1's OLED display to listen to the broadcast.
    • The user can connect Listen Technologies LA-438 or LA439 neck loop lanyards if using T-coil-equipped hearing aid, or standard earbuds/earphones with 3.5mm jack termination.

Improving accessibility

The collaboration between Ampetronic and Listen Technologies also extends to leading hearing aid manufacturers, microphone manufacturers, and audio infrastructure companies to create a robust and reliable technology platform.

By incorporating the Auri Assistive Listening System, venues can significantly improve the listening experience for individuals with hearing impairments, fostering inclusivity and compliance with accessibility standards and legislation.

Auracast

What is Auracast?

Auracast is a new Bluetooth capability that the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) who set the standards for Bluetooth technology, has included in the Bluetooth LE Audio Standard.
Simply put, Auracast allows high quality audio to be broadcast from one source device and be received by an unlimited number of compatible devices without going through the classic Bluetooth pairing process. It means that many people can tune into the same source on their own devices.

What devices are Auracast-compatible?

An Auracast receiver can be many types of devices including hearing aids, and cochlear implants, phones, earbuds, headphones, or Auri receivers.

Your device needs to support Bluetooth 5.2 or later as well as the Public Broadcast Profile (PBP) within the LE Audio Standard specifications.

Since this technology is new, there is a limited number of devices currently compatible, but that number is continuously growing and eventually it will be possible for all end users to have their own Auracast Devices. Auri is the first complete installed assistive listening system featuring Auracast technology.
