The XL2 is a powerful, portable audio analyser, which, when coupled with a suitable microphone, becomes a sound level meter to Class 1 or Class 2 standard and a comprehensive acoustic analyser as well. Supplied with software which connects the instrument to a PC to transfer data or log data it is an all-in-one tool intended for applications such as live sound, sound installations, recording studios, broadcast environmental noise measurements service and repair centres. The analyser is available as a stand-alone test instrument, with a choice of NTI Audio microphones or in kits together with a microphone, signal generator and other accessories. Firmware packages are offered to add reliable measurement of STI, speech transmission index and extended features for sound level and acoustic measurements.
The hand-held instrument has an LCD showing menu options and measured values. It can be used with the rechargeable Lithium-polymer battery supplied for up to four hours. Dry cell batteries will give a similar life, or a external power supply can be used, which will charge the Lithium polymer whilst in operation. An XLR connector on the top offers a high-impedance, balanced connection for the audio input, with 48V phantom powering available for a microphone. Detection of NTI Audio M4261 or M2211 microphones is automatic. An RCA (phono) socket takes unbalanced signals. A 3.5mm headphone socket provides for monitoring the incoming signal. A microphone is built-in, which may be used for polarity and delay measurements as well as voice note recording to a Mini SD card, not supplied, up to 2GB, which can also be used to record screen shots, log measurements and to record WAV files, AD-PCM compressed as standard, but to 24-bit 48kHz quality with the Extended Acoustic Pack option. There is an internal speaker; a USB interface may be used for recharging the internal Li-Po battery as well as transfer of data.
The XL2 has a flexible user interface; the measurement screens may be personalised and ‘only a limited subset of the comprehensive functionalities enabled for simplified operator interfaces. Advanced users may access all menus, settings and store their preferred measurement configurations’. For basic users the XL2 offers ‘audio and acoustic analyser fixed operator interfaces with specific pre-defined settings. The XL2 boots up with exactly the required measurement parameters according the pre-defined instrument configurations. This ensures accurate measurements achieved by advanced and basic users.’

M4261, M2211 - Measurement Microphones
The plug-on omni-directional, condenser, free-field measurement microphones M4261 or M2211 form together with the XL2 a ‘comprehensive sound level meter and acoustic analyzer’. The microphones are 48V DC phantom powered and include a pre-amplifier. Both combine a high dynamic range and wide frequency-range with low noise. The M2211 extended performance measurement microphone has a detachable half-inch capsule and offers Class 1 frequency response, the M4261 is a Class 2 device with a fixed, quarter-inch capsule. Each microphone is supplied with a protective pouch, windshield and microphone clamp with thread adapter, 5/8th to 3/8th inches.
M2010 - Measurement Microphone
A very compact and accurate measurement microphone providing Class 1 accuracy. It has a balanced XLR output and requires an external 10V - 48V DC phantom power supply. Supplied with microphone clamp, wind protection, and case.

This powers the analyser and charges the internal Li-Po battery in the XL2 in circumstances where USB charging is inappropriate.
This charges the Li-Po battery externally from the XL2. It is supplied with a spare Li-Po battery.
Mounting Adapter for XL2
This mechanical adapter piece mounts the XL2 on a microphone stand. Adapters for 3/8 inch or 5/8 inch threaded stands are included. NTI Audio code: 600 000 372.
This is an five metre cable with male and female 3-pole XLR connectors, used when it is desirable to mount the measuring microphone away from the XL2. Up to four ASD cables may be connected in series. The ASD cable is wired with four connections: the XL2 uses the metal body of the XLR input as an extra conductor. As a result the M4261 and M2211 microphones can be identified automatically. If the microphones are connected with a standard microphone cable, parameters must be entered manually.
Made from re-enforced plastic and filled with foam, this has dedicated cutouts for an XL2 analyser, a Minirator MR-Pro, and a measurement microphone with spaces for batteries cables and adapters.
This is a tubular lamp fitting, intended for such applications as indicating noise levels at live events or clubs or in noisy industrial environments. The light has three lamp sections, coloured green, amber and red, and connects to the XL2 via the Digital I/O Adapter Box. Connection is via a 5-pin XLR on a two metre captive cable. This is connected to the digital I/O interface of the XL2 to provide a 'Turnkey solution' controlling an external SPL Stack Light. Limit settings may be customised in the XL2. There is a female 5-pole XLR connector for connection to the Stack Light, a male 3-pole mini-XLR connector to link to the XL2 with the supplied cable (2 metres) and an inlet for the supplied 24V power adapter.
