Designed for use in professional and semi-professional applications including concert, event and conference live recordings, vinyl record transfers, and broadcast playback, these rack-mounting CD-R and CD-RW recorders also play MP3 audio from CD. Versions with unbalanced and professional, balanced connections are available, both featuring input sample rate converters, 24-bit analogue conversion, tempo, pitch-change and key-select playback controls. Both have a keyboard socket for titling, track indexing and function control.
CD-RW900SX - RCA (phono), SPDIF, TOSlink
Tascam CD-RW900SX is a tray-loading machine, using a TEAC transport that ensures gapless recording, with a 105mm display showing status information, including record or playback level metering. The power switch is flush with the panel, a 6.35mm headphone socket has an associated level control. Large transport control keys for stop, play, ready and record functions as well as secondary buttons, including forward and reverse, disc finalise, erase, input select, record sync and menu control keys are again indented into the panel. There is a dedicated, push-to-select, rotary 'jog' control for menu operations, and separate record level controls for analogue left and right channel inputs. A slide- switch activates timer-record operation. Pitch changing of +/-6 semitones, +/-16% vari-speed in 0.1 to 1% steps is adjustable using the jog control; a 'Key Original' function can alter tempo without changing the musical key.
The rear panel has six RCA(phono) connectors; two pairs for stereo analogue inputs and outputs, and a pair for SPDIF coaxial in and out. Two TOS-link connections provide digital inputs and outputs. Power is connected by an IEC inlet.

CD-RW901MKII - XLR, AES, SPDIF, TOSlink
This is a tray-loading model, with professional interconnection and external control facilities additional to the features of the CD-RW900SX. Automated playback and record is possible, using the RS232C serial port. Functions including fader start/stop, record, stop, play, track skip forwards, backwards and record ready many be controlled with contact closures connected to a general purpose interface; all have tally (status indication) outputs. This port also allows two units to be connected to enable automatic disc recording changeover. Visual indication is given when the first or second machine’s discs are full and operator intervention is required to insert a new blank disc.
The front panel has the same controls as the CD-RW900SX, with in addition, a rotary control for vari-speed, and buttons for auto-cue, auto-ready for recording and call, for auto replay.
The rear panel has the same interconnection interfaces as the CD-RW900SX, with, in addition six XLR connectors. A pair provides balanced analogue outputs, with associated trim controls, a second pair are the balanced analogue inputs, and the remaining two connect AES/EBU digital input and output. D-sub connectors provide external control connections, 9-pin and 15-pin versions are used for RS-232C and the general purpose ports, respectively. The wired remote control connects to a miniature jack socket.
