A selection of microphones from Austrian Audio that have been designed for live use and feature rugged construction.
OD303 - Dynamic, supercardioid
OD303 is a dynamic vocal microphone for live use. It has been designed to be balanced, open, but at the same time 'powerful' mic. A rugged, die-cast construction aids resilience to daily use in the rehearsal room or the rigors of touring. OD303 also follows the Open Acoustic technology of Austrian Audio which provides an optimally shaped supercardioid polar pattern across a wide frequency band with excellent feedback stability. Austrian Audio also suggest the technique of holding the microphone close to the head-grille does not affect or change the sound.
Equipped with the ODC50 dual capsule, handling noise and stage vibrations at low frequencies are significantly reduced, whilst the proprietary 3D Pop noise diffuser reduces noise caused by explosive sounds such as "T" and "P" to a minimum.
Included accessories: OCH1 microphone clip, MZP3 microphone pouch.
Optional accessories: OCH1 microphone clip, MZP3 microphone pouch, OCP8 pop filter.
Polar pattern: Supercardoid. Frequency range: 35Hz to 16kHz. Sensitivity: 1.8mV/Pa. Impedance: 1200ohms. Load impedance: Greater than 1kohm. Dimensions: 194 x 53 x 53mm. Weight: 330g.
OD505 - Active dynamic, supercardioid
OD505 is an active dynamic vocal microphone for live use. Austrian Audio consider the mic to be an 'all-rounder' for use in rehearsal room or recording studio applications, or for sessions with multiple instruments or full ensembles. It could also be used by radio broadcasters and podcasters.
The active front capsule requires 48V phantom power and, at 4.4 mV/Pa, has almost the same sensitivity as a condenser microphone. The passive lower capsule is polarity-rotated and senses and minimizes unwanted noise, especially in the lower frequencies. A selectable 2nd order high-pass filter reduces noise such as bumps and stage knocks. The tight supercardioid pattern offers a off-axis rejection, ensuring maximum gain before feedback. A 3D pop noise diffuser has been used to reduce the impact of plosives.
Included accessories: OCH1 microphone clip, MZP3 microphone pouch.
Optional accessories: OCH1 microphone clip, MZP3 microphone pouch, OCP8 pop filter.
Polar pattern: Supercardoid. Frequency range: 35Hz to 16kHz. Maximum SPL: 154dB SPL. Sensitivity: 4.4mV/Pa. Impedance: 275ohms. Load impedance: Greater than 1kohm. Dimensions: 194 x 53 x 53mm. Weight: 340g.
OC707 - Condenser, cardioid
OC707 is a true condenser microphone that has been designed for professional vocals in a live situation or in a recording studio. Austrian Audio have designed the microphone to 'capture the dynamics and subtleties of the human voice', whilst blocking out unwanted noise from the outset. The microphone offers a well-balanced sound, reduced proximity effect, low self-noise of 19dB SPL , and high sound pressure level of 151dB SPL.
The microphone capsule’s three micron thick gold-coated polyethylene naphthalate diaphragm has been designed to be more robust than conventional Mylar alternatives. Austrian Audio's proprietary Open Acoustics Technology allows sound to enter the capsule almost entirely unimpeded from all sides. Contact points between the mounted capsule and the enclosure are reduced to a minimum. Furthermore, the reduction of sound-reflecting surfaces in proximity to the capsule ensures that the signal source is reproduced as resonance-free as possible. The design also reduces the microphone’s sensitivity to physically-induced sound, such as handling noise and shocks, whilst a switchable 2nd order high-pass filter further enhances sound-shaping, and reduces excessive proximity effects.
