YAMAHA DIGITAL MIXERS - QL Series

Yamaha QL1 and QL5 mixing consoles have been designed by Yamaha as a condensed and concentrated version of their CL series mixing consoles. Inheriting many of the same features as the CL series including built-in Dante network capabilities, the QL series is an all-in-one solution for medium scale live sound, corporate events, broadcast or installations.

A 10-inch touch-panel display works hand-in-hand with an intuitive interface including twelve user defined keys, four user defined knobs and 'Touch and Turn' operation to give the operator quick access to any setting that can be edited. 100mm motorised faders with 1024-step resolution, +10dB to -138dB, ensure accurate and smooth response. Each channel has a miniature display panel located above the fader and editable colour bar to show the channel name, fader setting, and select inserts.

In addition to a 4-band full parametric EQ, gate, ducking, compressor, expander, de-esser and both hard and soft companders for each input channel, the QL mixers host a total of 24 VCM (Virtual Circuitry Modeling) rack processors. Up to 8 of these processors, including VCM versions of the Portico 5033 and 5043 EQ and compressors, designed in collaboration with Rupert Neve, can be allocated to the 'Premium Rack'. Other 'Premium Rack' processors include U76 studio compressor/limiter, Opt-2A 60s optical studio compressor, EQ-1A classic equaliser, MBC4 multiband compressor, and more. The 'GEQ Rack' can host either 8x 31-band GEQs (graphic equalisers) or 16x 15-band Flex15 GEQs. There are 8 slots on the 'Effect Rack' and a total library of 54 effect programs including Yamaha's REV-X, Comp 276, Open Deck, Comp 260 and EQ601 to choose from.

Built-in automatic Dan Dugan mixing can be easily inserted into the internal processing rack to for up to 16 channels of automatic microphone gain distribution, which is a welcomed feature for engineers mixing in speech applications such as conferences, theatre shows, sports presenting or broadcast. The Dan Dugan Sound Design auto-mix reduces feedback and noise by smoothly cross-fading the channel gain from any open channels that have the processor assigned.

The QL1 and QL5 can be used in conjunction with any of the Yamaha R Series I/O Dante interfaces including the Rio1608-D, Rio3224-D, Ri8-D, and Ro8-D. By using any of these remote interfaces the operator can deploy remote inputs and/or outputs away from the front of house mixing console yet maintain full digital control of the signal processing. See Yamaha DANTE Interfaces.
