Stage Sound Services select EMO Power Distribution Units

From its headquarters just outside of Cardiff, specialist sound and video company Stage Sound Services (SSS) provide sales and hire services to the Theatre and Touring Markets around the world.

The company was formed over twenty years ago and has grown to become a major supplier of hire equipment. SSS boasts an enviable client list, and is now regularly providing technical solutions to West End productions and other major live events. It has recently supplied equipment to the Blue Man Group, Evita, Ghost and the Saturday Night Fever stage tours.

Its hire business is founded on a strong commitment to investing in reliable equipment. The experienced team of engineers can advise upon, pre-build and supply plug-and-play ready, flight cased systems which help minimise on-site set-up times for its clients.

Providing essential AV and communications equipment to the touring and events markets, where “the show must go on” no-matter what, means technical relationships with its suppliers, and ultra-reliable kit is paramount to Stage Sound Services business.

Every system requires some form of power distribution, and due to the wide ranging scope of possible applications, Stage Sound Services require a robust and versatile unit. The team has therefore standardised on using the Canford manufactured EMO C604 Power Distribution Panel. EMO rack-mounting panels are engineered specifically to provide a versatile, safe, solution to the problem of powering the diverse combinations of equipment, commonly mounted in mobile racks, for temporary installations in live entertainment, location recording and outside broadcast work. Stage Sound Services currently have over 300 units in-use, and each new system-build will receive at least one EMO C604.

James Lewis, Stage Sound Services Commercial Manager commented: “The nature of our business demands that we use only the most reliable equipment, and a robust powering system is crucial. The EMO C604 power distribution panels from Canford have proven just that over many years. The build-quality is second-to-none, and we find that they travel well, withstanding all that touring and events can throw at them.  Add to that a competitive price and Canford’s in-house ability to provide custom Stage Sound Services branded front panels, and you can understand why the EMO C604 has become our staple 16A distro.”

Stage Sound Services also relies upon Canford for its custom screen printed 19” rack panels. Through its metalworking facility on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, which includes a full sheet-metal work shop, multiple vertical machining centres and its own laser engraving and powder coating facility, Canford is able to provide the high-quality of product required.

Erika Dobie, Canford Business Development Manager added: “I left my job with Yamaha, where I’d worked in the Pro Music Division and joined what was then Canford’s Quotation Team in 2002. It wasn’t long before I began visiting customers, and Stage Sound Services were one of the first. It has been a pleasure to provide them with our support across a number of different products ranging from Green-Go comms, TC Electronics, custom cable assemblies, power distribution units and much more. I’ve watched them grow and develop from their early days to where they are now, a highly reputable company with a highly skilled, dedicated and friendly team who offer a first class service.”
