MD 431-II - Dynamix, super-cardioid, live vocal/speech
Designed for vocals, speech, and broadcasting, Sennheiser MD 431-II offers 'exceptional' feedback rejection, and 'very good rejection of' handling noise. Hum compensating coil. The super-cardioid capsule is combined with a custom-tailored frequency response to allows high gain before feedback with an uncolored off-axis response. The microphone capsule is housed in a steel-mesh grille, with shock-suspension, with hum-bucking coil. A 'noiseless', magnetic reed on/off switch is recessed within the handle to avoid unwanted switching.
Applications: Live vocal, interview, speech. Frequency response: 40-18000Hz. Dimensions: 200 x 49 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 690g
MD 435 - Dynamic, cardioid, live vocal
Sennheiser describe the MD 435 capsule to have 'nuanced resolution and transparency'. It has a large diaphragm diameter and a frequency response of 40-20,000Hz. With a maximum SPL of 163dB and dynamic range of 146dB(A), MD 435 is designed for live vocals in high volume conditions. The capsule is spring-mounted and surrounded by a metal basket, which in turn forms part of the 'rugged' metal design.
Applications: Live vocal. Frequency response: 40-20000Hz. Dimensions: 181 x 47.5 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 350g
MD 445 - Dynamic, super-cardioid, live vocal
This microphone head has very similar attributes as the MD 435 however the pickup pattern is super-cardioid and is therefore more resistant to background noise and feedback. SPL is 163dB and dynamic range is 145dB(A).
Applications: Live vocal. Frequency response: 40-20000Hz. Dimensions: 174 x 47.5 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 329g
MD42 - Dynamic, omnidirectional, interview
Designed and constructed for use in demanding field applications, providing protection from wind and handling noise in live reporting and broadcasting environments, the MD 42 has a two-ply sound-inlet basket to provide increased protection from wind and pop noise. The capsule is shock mounted within the extra-long metal housing to ensure low sensitivity to handling noise and the omni-directional pick-up pattern ensures excellent speech intelligibility even when the microphone is not pointed directly towards the speaker. Supplied without cable or stand clamp. MD42 has a low output impedance and a 3-pole XLR connector.
Applications: Handheld interview. Frequency response: 40-18000Hz. Dimensions: 250 x 49 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 360g.
MD46 - Dynamic, cardioid, interview
Similar to the MD42, but with a directional pick-up pattern, the MD6 is more appropriate for locations with a high degree of background noise. Supplied without cable or stand clamp.
Applications: Handheld interview. Frequency response: 40-18000Hz. Dimensions: 250 x 49 (length x maximum diameter) mm. Weight: 360g.
