RODE MICROPHONES - Videomic - On-camera
These compact condenser microphones, intended for use by videographers, are particularly suited for use with camcorders and DSLR system cameras. Mono types are directional, with super-cardioid pattern, while the stereo models offer a choice of dual cardioid and dual super-cardioid patterns in an X/Y configuration to offer a true 'studio' style, stereo recording technique.
VideoMic - Mono - Super-Cardioid
Designed for use with video camcorders, the VideoMic uses a true externally-polarised capsule and features a tough ABS construction. An integrated lyre suspension-mount by Rycote provides a very high level of mechanical isolation, eliminating virtually all motor noise, while a cold-shoe fitting is included to ensure fast, easy camcorder mounting. The windshield reduces unwanted wind noise, pad switches allow -10 and -20dB attenuation and a switched high-pass filter gives the flexibility to record in most environments.
The VideoMic has a stereo mic level output and a single PP3 battery provides 100 hours of continuous operation. The captive cable terminates in a convenient right-angled 3.5mm 3-pole jack plug and is unobtrusive to camcorder operation when connected. Response: 40Hz-20kHz. Sensitivity: -38dB ref 1V/Pa, 1kHz, typical. Dimensions: 248 x 80 x 98(l x h x d)mm. Weight: 171g.
Included accessories: WSVM foam windshield.
Optional accessories: Deadcat wind-cover, tripod table stand, PG1 pistol grip, VXLR adapter, VC1 extension cable.
Similar to the standard VideoMic, the Pro version offers the same circuitry and functions as standard, but in a much more compact and lightweight profile. A PP3 battery provides 70 hours of continuous operation. Response: 40Hz-20kHz. Sensitivity: -32dB ref 1V/Pa, 1kHz, typical. Dimensions: 75 x 100 x 170mm. Weight: 85g.
Included accessories: WSVMPR foam windshield.
Optional accessories: Deadcat VMPR wind-cover, PG1 pistol grip, tripod table stand, VXLR adapter, VC1 extension cable.
Videomic Go - Mono - Super-Cardioid
The VideoMic Go has been designed with compact dimensions and lightweight 73g for portability. It is fitted with a cold-shoe mount for instant camera attachment, and 3/8 inch thread for boompole compatibility. Powered via the included coiled 20cm 3.5mm dual mono jack cable from the camera's external microphone input, the microphone has no need for a battery. A Rycote Lyre shock-mounting system provides vibration isolation to any handling noise. Response: 100Hz to 16kHz. Sensitivity: -35dB ref 1V/Pa, 1kHz, typical. Dimensions: 79 x 73 x 167mm (h x w x d). Weight: 73g.
Included accessories: 20cm coiled 3.5mm dual mono jack cable, extendable to 25cm.
Optional accessories: Deadcat Go, PG1 pistol grip, tripod table stand, VXLR adapter, VC1 extension cable.
This is fitted with a cold-shoe mount for instant camera attachment, offers a 3/8 inch thread to allow mounting on a stand or boompole and has a rugged, cast aluminium housing which features an integral windshield and vibration isolation to reduce wind and handling noise. Fitted with the same low-noise circuitry used in the popular Rode Videomic, the Stereo Videomic offers low noise, mic-level output using a captive output cable terminated in a convenient, right-angled, 3.5mm, 3-pole jack plug. Powered by a 9V PP3 with a power status, indicator LED. A high pass filter (80Hz) and a 10dB attenuator allows extra versatility in most environments. Response: 40Hz to 20kHz. Sensitivity: -38dB ref 1V/Pa, 1kHz, typical. Dimensions: 65 x 102 x 170(h x w x d)mm. Weight: 0.288kg.
Included accessories: DeadKitten high-wind cover.
Optional accessories: PG1 pistol grip, tripod.
This uses a Rycote Lyre shock mounting to further reduce any handling noise. The 1/2 inch condenser capsules are positioned in an X/Y stereo configuration and housed within a foam windshield that offers protection from unwanted noise. The lightweight 116g microphone has a metal camera-shoe mount that can be utilised for camera attachment, or the 3/8 inch thread allows mounting on a stand or boompole. The rear section of the microphone features both power and equalisation controls where the user can chose between off, on, and 75Hz, high-pass filter, on one slider switch and -10dB pad, 0dB normal, and +20dB boost on a second sliding selection switch. A single 9V alkaline battery can be inserted behind a battery cover to provide 'over 100 hours' of use. Response: 40Hz to 20kHz. Sensitivity: -38dB. Output connection: 3.5mm stereo jack. Response: 40Hz to 20kHz. Sensitivity: -38dB ref 1V/Pa, 1kHz, typical. Dimensions: 115 x 80 x 134mm (l x w x h). Weight: 116g.
Optional accessories: DeadKitten high-wind cover, PG1 pistol grip, tripod.
This X has a lightweight aluminium construction, with a metal camer- shoe mount as well as a 3/8 inch thread for boompole compatibility. The 1/2 inch cardioid condenser capsule with frequency range of 40Hz to 20kHz is housed within an integral windshield. A Rycote Lyre shock mounting system ensures vibration isolation is kept to a maximum. It is fitted with digital switching; the user can select a high-pass filter with three steps (0, 75Hz, 150Hz), a +6dB high frequency boost for better pickup of voice, and a level-control with three-positions (-10dB, 0dB, +20dB). Powered by a single 9V alkaline battery for over 30 hours use, or by +48V phantom power for constant use by using the dual mini-XLR output connections. Response: 20Hz to 20kHz.
