Designed for use in commercial venues such as retail, bars, restaurants, or hotels, Tascam's MZ range of zone mixers have differing numbers of input channel types and zone output capabilities.
MZ-123BT - 3x line in, 2x mic in, Bluetooth, 3-zone
MZ-123BT multi-zone audio mixer is equipped with two microphone, three line level, and one Bluetooth audio input, along with three balanced mono/stereo zone outputs. The front panel of the zone-mixer has a microphone input via 3-pin XLR/jack combination and associated rotary gain controller, +48V phantom power switch, zone output selection buttons and output volume control. Separate LEDs, situated next to the output volume controller, illuminate when audio signal is sensed and if that signal reaches peak input level. A second microphone input, where the input is on the rear panel, has the same output selection buttons and volume control as the ‘MIC 1’ input. Line level inputs one and two, where the inputs are on the rear panel, again have the same volume and routing controls as the microphones inputs. A final group of output selection buttons can be switched between auxiliary input on unbalanced, -20dBV 3.5mm jack connection, or Bluetooth audio channel. An output section allows the user to adjust the volume of the three zone outputs, along with routing to headphone output via switchable PFL button. Peak and signal LED indicators are located next to the output volume controllers. A detachable RP-SMA antenna aids Bluetooth reception and connectivity, whilst a push button allows pairing with A2DP supported compatible devices using SBC, AAC, or aptX codecs. Finally, a 6.3mm headphone jack connection is located to the right of the front facing panel and has dedicated rotary volume controller.
The rear facing panel of the MZ-123BT has all other connectivity and controls including IEC AC mains input with power latching on/off rocker switch, zone 1/2/3 mono/stereo outputs on Euroblock, line inputs one and two on dual RCA (phono) inputs with associated gain controls, and balanced input section. Each balanced input section has a 3-band EQ section along with gain control, +48V phantom on/off switch, balanced input on Euroblock connector, and dip-switches for PAD, HPF (high pass filter), and Talkover. Talkover is a useful feature when a user wishes to make announcements via a connected microphone. An input signal is detected and automatically attenuates other audio inputs so that speech clarity and intelligibility can be achieved. The threshold level and release time can be adjusted using rotary controllers on the rear panel.

MZ-223 - 5x line in, 2x mic in, 3-zone
Like MZ-123BT, MZ-223 is a rackmount mixer designed for fixed installations in shops, public facilities, restaurants, bars, theme parks or hotels. It can be used to send background music and announcements from a variety of sources to three different rooms or zones. Each of the seven input channels can be routed to any or all of the three output zones.
The mixer offers five stereo input channels via RCA (phono) connection for line-level signals from analogue playback sources like media players, tuners or cassette decks. Channels one and two can be switched to phono to connect record players. Two additional microphone input channels are available for announcements, speech reinforcement, karaoke or other uses with dynamic microphones. When used for announcements, for example, the built-in Talkover function can automatically lower the volume of background music according to the mic volume. Each of the three zone main outputs is equipped with level control, LED level meter and a 3-band equalizer. There is also an independent monitoring output for the control room and a headphones output with level control that can be used for pre-fader monitoring of selected input channels and any of the zone outputs.
The front facing panel has LED meter, rotary volume control and 3-band EQ for each of the two microphone input channels, whilst each of the five line inputs feature fader only. All channels have three buttons for the selection of the zone output, and each of the three zone outputs has a master volume rotary control, a LED meter, and a 3-band EQ. A 6.35mm headphone output jack and associated volume control allow local monitoring.
Output level: +4dBu nominal; +24dBu maximum. Output impedance: 200ohms. Headphone output level: 50mW + 50mW maximum, on 32ohm load. Frequency response 20-20,000Hz. Crosstalk attenuation: 65dB. Power requirement: AC 100-240V, 50/60Hz. Power consumption: 35W. Dimensions (WxHxD): 482 x 88 x 93mm. Weight: 2.5kg
MZ-372 - 7x mic/line in, 2-zone
MZ-372 is a 3U, 19-inch rackmount mixer designed for fixed installations in hotels, conference centres, public facilities, theme parks or bars. It offers seven input channels, two pairs of main outputs and a sub output. The six input channels can be used for microphones or line-level signals from analogue playback sources like media players, tuners or cassette decks, each equipped with gain controls, LED level meters, 3-band equalizers and 100-mm faders. Up to three of these channels can be switched to phono to connect record players. An additional microphone input, positioned on the front facing panel, has level control and 2-band equalizer. This microphone input is designed for announcements or speech reinforcement. When used in this manner, a built-in Talkover function can be used to automatically lower the volume of background music according to the mic volume.
Each of the two main outputs has its own level control and stereo LED level meter. An independent sub output with level control and mono/stereo selection can be used to drive an external master recorder or an additional room. The front facing panel has rotary volume control and 2-band EQ for the 'main' microphone input channel, whilst each of the six remaining mic/line inputs feature fader, rotary input gain control, 3-band EQ, and LED meter. Each of the two zone output channels has a master volume rotary control and dual LED meter. A 6.35mm headphone output jack and associated volume control allow local monitoring.
Output level: +4dBu nominal; +24dBu maximum. Output impedance: 200ohms. Headphone output level: 50mW + 50mW maximum, on 32ohm load. Frequency response 20-20,000Hz. Crosstalk attenuation: 65dB.
