ALLEN & HEATH MIXERS - SQ Series

SQ mixing consoles are built for professionals working in demanding live sound, recording and streaming applications. A 3-tier, all metal chassis has been employed along with an extruded aluminium light bar, for strength and rigidity. The models in the SQ range share features including 96kHz FPGA processing, 48x input channels, 12x stereo mixes plus L/R, 3x stereo matrix, 8x stereo FX engines with dedicated returns, 64x64 I/O port for audio networking, and 32x32 USB audio interface. The difference in the models is the form factor, number of preamps, and number of faders.

Aided by the 7-inch RGB, high-resolution touchscreen, Allen & Heath have integrated a user interface that allows drag-and-drop layout changes, allowing custom naming and colouring on any channel strip; intuitive menu design and ergonomic function editing; and softkeys for commonly used functions. SQ-6 and SQ-7 also feature assignable soft rotary controllers for detailed editing. Each input has a high pass filter, a 'super-fast' gate with sidechain and filter, a 4-band parametric equaliser with RTA, and Peak/RMS compressor for control and shaping of levels and transients. The consoles also feature eight stereo effects engines and are delivered with RackExtra library - which features emulations of classic reverbs, gated reverbs, delays, and modulators. Every engine has its own dedicated stereo return too, so as not to use up any of the 48 input channels. Mixes have both a parametric and 28-band graphic EQ along with compressor as standard.

SQ’s built-in 32x32 96kHz audio interface enables easy multitrack recording, backing-track playback, livestreaming and virtual soundcheck. The interface is class-compliant on Mac OS X making it plug and play, with ASIO and WDM compatible drivers available for Windows computers. The user is able to map the SQ’s faders, rotaries, channel keys and softkeys to control a DAW using the Allen & Heath MIDI Control app. An integrated SQ-Drive allows the engineer to capture and playback 16-channels at 96kHz, 32-channels at 48kHz, or a stereo recording of the performance direct to a USB key or drive.

All models are compatible with SQ MixPad, SQ4You, and SQ Control apps, and Everything I/O expanders. See ALLEN & HEATH EXPANDERS - Everything I/O Series.

Optional Interface Expansion Cards

SQ Dante 32x32

SQ Dante 32x32 provides any SQ mixer or AHM processor with a full 32x32 channel, 96kHz or 48kHz interface to a Dante network to connect to DT expanders, wireless systems, amplifiers, or preamps.

SQ Dante 64x64

SQ Dante 64x64 provides any SQ mixer or AHM processor with a full 64x64 channel, 96kHz or 48kHz interface to a Dante network to connect to DT expanders, wireless systems, amplifiers, or preamps.

SQ MADI

SQ MADI provides any SQ mixer or AHM matrix processor with a 64x64 MADI interface running at either 48kHz or 96kHz. The interface card enables connection and synchronisation with broadcast or recording systems, OB vans, and third-party consoles for high-channel count feeds over coaxial cables. Two BNC inputs pair with two BNC outputs to allow for split or redundant setups while a dual function (in/out) BNC Wordclock connection enables the console to sync with other equipment.

SQ SLink

SQ SLink provides engineers with the option to add an intelligent SLink port to any SQ or AHM mixer. On SQ, the option card runs independently from the built-in SLink port, allowing two different Allen & Heath protocols to be used in one system, at the same time. With two SLink ports it’s possible to combine an SQ with any ME personal monitoring system, DX, GX or dSnake expander. Any SQ console fitted with a SLink interface card can also be directly connected to a Qu, SQ, Avantis or dLive system, enabling FOH/monitor splits, broadcast feeds.

SQ Waves

SQ Waves provides any SQ or AHM with a 64x64, 96kHz or 48kHz interface to a Waves SoundGrid network using the I/O Port. Engineers or installers can fit the Waves card to any SQ or AHM for Waves plugin processing, multitrack recording at 96kHz or 48kHz, virtual soundcheck, and audio distribution applications.
